Mrs.Sorken is a play about a middle-aged woman who’s scheduled to give a lecture on the meaning of theatre but has lost her notes. Relying on memory, I thought that the play was very interesting. Her comments were a bit nonsensical but still intriguing to follow along to. My favorite thing about the play is that she practically went on this whole elaborate tangent on words and where they derive from based on Greek endings rather than actually doing what she was supposed to do. It was short and simple, yet still endearing to read and fun to imagine as I read along.
One Minute Play by Chris Durang is about a suicidal guy who tells a cheerful woman that he feels worthless. He was fired and feels like his life is basically over. The woman barely acknowledges how he feels. I thought the play was funny because Dave (the suicidal man) trying to tell Polly how he feels but just being ignored about it in return is something that you don't really see often. People are usually serious about something like that but it was made comical when Polly didn't really care.
Desire, Desire, Desire is a play revolving around the havoc that reveals itself when a census man shows up at an apartment. Stanley, a loud and annoying drunk and Blanche (a fed up up roommate) are two main characters. This play displays Durang's style and could possibly be a parody play. I, personally, found this play nonsensical and not amusing. On a related note, I would detest beer being thrown in my face.
A STYE OF THE EYE is a play about a southern family which consist of Ma, Jake, and Beth. Jake is the brother who had a girlfriend named Beth who is suspected dead. Ma also has a husband that is dead, but i,m not sure of whether or not she knows that.Lastly Beth has a crush on her brother Jake and the mom encourages. I'm not sure whether Jake feels the same way or not. It all gets mixed together in the end when he realizes Beth is not dead but beaten badly.
This play The book of Leviticus show there was a girl and and man named Tommy that were together and soon believed more in god and says that they wont ever be unfaithful to each other. Some people was also telling them about adultery. They were also explaining what happened to people if they did adultery. The people would get automatically killed
Stye of the Eye is a play between two brothers, Jake and Frankie. Jake is calling his mother because he thinks he has killed his wife but she has brain damage. This play was a parody play. I thought the play was pretty funny. I was shocked at how the son would speak to his mother but it was quite hilarious.
I watched the play 'Dentity crisis. It's about a mother and daughter and this man who throughout the play is the brother, the father, and the granddad. The mother is crazy and so is the man. The daughter attempted suicide, and so a psychologist comes over to the house, and doesn't really understands why she is driven crazy. I thought it was well done, since by the end I was fed up with the craziness of the mom and man and the daughter seemed rational which was supposed to happen. I also think that the idea is cool and kind of cooky.
I watched 1-900 desperate and what is happening is a young woman who isn't married keeps getting pestered by her mother about not being married so she see's this ad about a phone line where you can chat with people and on the phone line she comes across many characters but somehow a young 5 year old boy calls the phone line and she finds his voice more soothing to her then everybody else's voice.
Nina in the morning is about a parent who's face is perfect and she wakes up and looks in the mirror and her face looks bad and her son tries to touch it but Nina does not let her
One minute play is a short play about someone who wants to kill themselves. The lady in the play does not care about his feelings and gives him no attention.
I read Naomi in the Living Room. The comedy in this play comes completely out of the absurd characters. It is basically a son introducing his girlfriend to his mother who is constantly changing moods. Then all the sudden, the son is crossing dressing like his wife. I am trying to figure out whether is a parody of something, because it feels very out of the blue. I think it was almost too absurd and random to be funny.
Business Lunch at the Russian Tea Room is about a playwright, the boy named Chris is having a meeting with a film development person for a possible chance at a screenwriting play. It was a interesting play.
Naomi in the living room is a very sarcastic and funny play. The play is about a woman known as Naomi who invites her son and daughter in law to her house. The play takes place in, as suggested by the title, the living room. It's a very funny play with little bit of language. I really liked it.
Nina in the morning is about Nina who is a mother of three kids named Robert, James, and La-La. Nina is a very selfish women who has the most beautiful face. Nina's face is actually the reason why she as kids, and she takes her face very seriously always looking and admiring herself. But Nina also has Foote and he does a lot for her. Foote used to be a dentist and gives her kids shoots to put them asleep when they become out of hand.
